FESCO’s 145th anniversary:
from Vladivostok to Antarctica

In 2025, FESCO Transportation Group celebrated the 145th anniversary of its foundation, which became a landmark event for the industry and the country. In his congratulatory message, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin highlighted the Company’s unique contribution to the development of the national transport system and economy.

Over nearly 150 years of its existence, FESCO has evolved from a regional shipping company into one of the leading players in the transportation and logistics market. The Group’s vessels operate across all oceans, while its regular container trains connect Russia from east to west.

The anniversary programme included large‑scale projects designed to promote FESCO’s heritage, strengthen international ties, and support public initiatives. The key events took place in Vladivostok, the city where FESCO was founded. Other locations included Moscow, where a joint project with the Moscow Zoo used a family of giant pandas to promote cooperation between Russian and Chinese companies, and Antarctica, where a blogger travelled aboard a Group vessel on a special mission.

Building on its robust heritage and nationally recognised contribution to the country’s development, FESCO continues moving forward with a focus on modern logistics solutions, social responsibility and stronger international cooperation.

The central message of all events marking FESCO’s 145th anniversary was the pride the Company takes in its rich history and commitment to a successful future.

Key anniversary projects

Joint project with the Moscow Zoo

Amid rapid growth of container transportation between Russia and China, FESCO implemented a joint project with the Moscow Zoo to support giant pandas, one of the key symbols of Chinese culture. The pandas became part of FESCO’s educational initiatives. The zoo hosted themed events for visitors. As part of the project, we released a limited edition of the Troyka transport cards. Furthermore, street artists created several panda‑themed graffiti pieces on FESCO containers. One such container was presented during the 2025 Eastern Economic Forum at Vladivostok’s Art Harbour venue.

Routes of Taste food festival

The Routes of Taste food festival held during the 2025 Eastern Economic Forum was yet another major project designed to mark the Company’s 145th anniversary. The Forum’s guests and tourists had an opportunity to discover traditional Primorye products and dishes cooked by chefs from more than 30 Vladivostok restaurants, while also getting insights into the culinary traditions from countries connected to the Primorye Territory through FESCO’s routes. More than 6.2  thousand sets were sold during the festival, with part of the proceeds donated to the Rusfond charity foundation to support seriously ill children.

Festive public space in Vladivostok

FESCO’s anniversary year culminated in the creation of a New Year public space near Vladivostok’s main Christmas tree, which featured a large ice rink and a festive town. The maritime New Year square with ice paths, light installations, decorations and themed festive infrastructure became a popular holiday destination for residents and visitors alike.

Awareness‑raising initiatives

In the reporting year, FESCO staged outdoor exhibitions in Moscow and Vladivostok, including The Great Voyage of FESCO, an event shedding light on the Company’s nearly 150‑year history, and Fiery Voyages, an exhibition focusing on the heroic role of vessels and crews in cargo transportation during the Great Patriotic War. In September 2025, a recently opened Russia National Centre in the Primorye Territory hosted a joint exhibition by FESCO and Rosatom State Corporation showcasing next‑generation technologies. FESCO also joined forces with the TASS information agency to launch 145 Years in Service of the Country, a special multimedia project focusing on the Company’s history and the development of domestic logistics. The Russia‑24 TV channel broadcast a documentary on the evolution of Far‑Eastern Shipping Company and its modern‑day achievements.

Antarctic expedition

In 2025, travel blogger Konstantin Parfenyev travelled to Antarctica aboard a FESCO vessel to install a flag made from drawings of employees’ children from different Russian cities. The blogger’s film on the expedition became the centrepiece of a series of events held at the Atom Pavilion at VDNH (Moscow) and at Tretyakov Gallery’s public space (Vladivostok).

Vladivostok: visualisation of the Company’s history

Local residents and the Company’s employees helped create a 400‑metre long mural depicting the key milestones in the development of FESCO and its connection with the history of Vladivostok and Russia, including the establishment of the shipping company, the “fiery voyages” of the Great Patriotic War, routes to every continent and even Antarctica.

Social initiatives

FESCO’s 145th anniversary projects also included a wide range of activities for children and families from educational games and performances to volunteer ice cream distribution campaigns in the cities of operation, as well as events for veterans and employees, reprints of historical books, charitable initiatives, etc. The events received extensive media coverage and support from public opinion leaders.
